3D Systems and FreshFiber Bring 3D Printed Apple Watch Bands

Many manufacturers had been waiting for the official announcement of the Apple Watch and as soon as that happened they all jumped on the opportunity to make the most of their third party scenario. Since Apple’s Spring Forward event we have been hearing all about the watch and just as the cases are important for any smartphone upon its launch, the straps and bands are vital to the working of the Apple Watch.

The internet has introduced to us various third party offerings of different styles of straps but there is one company in particular which has caught our attention primarily because of its unique idea – 3D systems had been working with FreshFiber to create the Apple Watch bands which are 3D printed.

Smartwatches work more like our phones, giving us the space to make and receive calls, read off our notifications, check into flights and stay in touch with social networking. And things get pretty interesting when each one of us can have our own customized and different looking watches. Thanks to the wrist bands, this is pretty much possible. Apple stores are also offering the wrists bands in stainless steel and leather but the benefits of choosing from third party sources include lower prices and lots of variety.

Together, 3D Systems and FreshFiber have unveiled some prototype designs for their 3D printed Apple Watch bands which haven’t made it to the market yet but will soon be available at the Cubify website. The bands will be 3D printed using the Everlast (nylon) material in 3D Systems’ Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) machines and this explains why they look so unique and eye catching.
