Paint sheds water and dirt like a duck
One of the more irritating aspects of owning a car is having to wash it frequently. You don’t necessarily have to wash a car, but if you want it to last you really need to. Nissan is talking up a new paint coating that it has invented and is testing that helps eliminate the need to wash your car reports Mashable.
The special paint is a super-hydrophobic paint called Ultra-Ever Dry. The paint has been made by UltraTech international to be very water and oil resistant.
“By creating a protective layer of air between the paint and environment, it effectively stops standing water and road spray from creating dirty marks on the car’s surface,” the carmaker said in a statement.
The paint is currently being tested on a Nissan Note and has reportedly “responded well” to normal weather conditions. it has been tested in sleet, frost, snow, and standing water and come out unscathed far. Nissan plans to continue testing the paint in the next few months.
And four out of five cars being washed belong to black people. Audis, Benzes, BMWs. And a dog-hair choked Nissan.

For now, Nissan says it has no plans to offer the special paint as a factory feature, but it is considering offering it as an aftermarket product. That would seem to imply that the special paint could be applied to any car sort of like a paint protectant. Check out the video here to see the special paint in action. It appears to work very well with mud and water simply falling off the surface of the body panels.
