The phone can be personalized with additional buttons which have already been pre-programmed to make calls friends and family
Being blind is no longer going to be a reason for the blinded to not use cellphones because thanks to the UK phonemaker OwnFone, the world’s first Braille phone has been announced which has been designed exclusively for the people with visual disabilities. The front and back panels of the phone have been designed with the help of a 3D printer because this allowed for more customization.
The phone also has another non-Braille version which will have a keypad with raised text. According to Tom Sunderland, the inventor of the phone, “3D printing provides a fast and cost-effective way to create personalized Braille buttons.”
The phone is also left open for further customization and allows more personalization with two or four additional Braille buttons which have already been pre-programmed to call friends, family, caretakers or the emergency services to make it even more convenient for the disabled.
