Leah Remini Forswore Scientology for Daughter’s Sake

There were tons of issues she had due to which she foreswore Scientology. But Leah Remnini mainly quit the opiate of the masses for her daughter’s sake.

She had her share of inner demons and hang-ups. But the major drawback that Leah Remini saw in continuing her stint with the Church of Scientology was that her family got sidelined. Especially her daughter who she loved more than life and the rest of her family was being neglected due to her commitment to the sect of Scientology.

“We’re learning new ways to reconnect with each other, so it really has brought us closer together,” Remini told Ellen DeGeneres. “We’re stronger and we’re having so much fun together and this is something that the family loves to do.”

Leah Remini, who is in her middle age, went further into the details of the divorce from the movement which claims Tom Cruise and John Travolta among its practitioners. Remini said that she was always told that home is where the heart should be.

When it comes to family, everything else came second. Leah also had problems with the leadership of the Church of Scientology. A certain man named David Miscavige was not sending out the right messages and Leah chose him as the target of her criticism of the movement.

And the ways in which some members were treated and even brainwashed simply made her sick to her stomach. The intimidating and bullying behavior of some of the leaders of the Church of Scientology led Remini to think twice regarding her membership.

She finally decided that enough was enough and cancelled it. She was even losing some of her best friends thanks to the diktats and mind games of this secular sect. Remini feels that what she did was the right thing. She is sad about the fact that many other members did not stand by her final decision.

What she did was perfectly in keeping with common sense and they ought to have supported her in her choices. A prime example is the actress Kirstie Alley, who severed all links with Remini after she left the church.

Remini is lucky that her family was with her all the way. Especially her mother stood by her side when no one else would. And the fact that her mother had been a member too for many years was proof that family really did come first.
