Christina Hendricks addresses White House Summit

The actress, Christina Hendricks addresses White House Summit on Working Families Monday. She spoke her mind on several matters having to do with basic human rights and family-friendly work policies.

Christina Hendricks was quite vocal at the White House Summit recently. White House Summit on Working Families was held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel on Monday. She said that the attitude towards women needs to be revised and the Mad Men Era ought to be put behind us. 

Hendricks spoke of how President Obama had termed the present day policies with regard to family welfare, women’s rights and child care as a Mad Men type of Zeitgeist. 

Since Christina played a female among males on the television show Mad Men, she spoke with first hand knowledge of the situation the fair sex faces in life. 

“When President Obama discusses the issues facing working families, equal pay for women, affordable child care, to name a few, he often says that current policies seem to be from the Mad Men era. … Well, it’s time for that story to go the way of the rotary phone and the typewriter,” Hendricks said.

She said that she knew how it felt like to face pressure from the male of the species. Yet it was about time we let go of these stereotypes that got in the way of justice and fair play. The White House Summit on Working Families was based on laying down plans for a 21st century office premises scheme. 

Meanwhile, Rush Limbaugh in a recent talk admitted that he found Christina’s whole spiel to be a bit too pompous for today’s times. Rush said that although she had pretended that she knew the 60s era inside out, this was not a fact. 

She was not even born during that era. All her knowledge was based on vicarious experience gained from acting. Then Rush went on in his conservative manner to chide Christina by saying that she was called by the White House and she appeared just for the sake of it.

Finally, he said that what she didn’t realize was that today those laws of harassment and second-class status for women didn’t exist anymore. 

Women were bosses and CEOs as well as in the administration. So, the females had won and there was no need for constant complaining or criticism as regards their rights. 

Besides where there are rights, there are also bound to be responsibilities. Women /4/be the creators of the species but that didn’t mean they had a license to do what they liked. Such an attitude would breed corruption and moral irresponsibility.
