At the Emmy nominations 2014, there were both some ups and downs for the actors and actresses who got voted for the awards.

There were quite a few surprises for the various performance artists at the Emmy nominations for 2014. While some made it and carried away awards others just couldn’t make the grade and had to go away empty-handed.

The results were a mixed bag of finders…keepers and losers weepers. Mariska Hargitay couldn’t get away with it this time. As for Tatiana Maslany, she too was on a downward spiral. Mindy Kaling and Chris Messina were not on the winner’s list.

Others who escaped notice include: Michael Sheen, Dean Norris and Elisabeth Moss. The list of failures goes on and on and has on it names such as: Niecy Nash, Amy Schumer, Carrie Preston and Bellamy Young.

These ordinary actors and actresses with their ordinary acting chops managed to slip under the radar and go unnoticed. And then there were the star studded attractions of the evening.

There were quite a few who hit the jackpot (so to say). Kate Mara in House of Cards got the Best Guest Actress in a Drama nomination. Lizzy Caplan, William H. Macy and Jeff Daniels hit pay dirt too as far as getting an award was concerned.

Silicon Valley was the HBO Comedy that was the bee’s knees. And Kate Mulgrew, Frances Conroy, Lena Headey, Fred Armisen as well as Kate McKinnon stood out among the rest.

The event was quite a dazzler alright. And all the good-looking were present on the occasion looking good. There was no dearth of talent yet not everyone won an award.

Receiving an Emmy is no small matter. It shows that the person or television show that gets the award has a certain caliber and fulfils certain rules of decorum and culture.

Each award is the epitome of the rank of the male or female who deserves it. And only those people get these awards par excellence who meet the strict and stringent criteria of the acting world. That of course is a feat of the human behavioral spirit on screen in its purest form.
