Portia De Rossi, Ellen DeGeneres’ Divorce: Can Jennifer Aniston Save Couple’s Marriage?

With rumors running rampant that Portia De Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres are heading towards divorce, an unlikely marital therapist is rumored to be the couple’s marital savior: Jennifer Aniston.

Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia De Rossi are headlining tabloid and gossip sites with rumors from others of divorce, thanks to an upcoming book about their alleged stormy marriage. Word is the comedian-turned talk show host and the Ally McBeal actress have retained Jennifer Aniston in a last-ditch effort to salvage their troubled relationship, so it seems.

Aniston, who is known by her circle of friends as “Mama Jen,” is said to be helping Portia cope with her life post-rehab. In May, De Rossi spent 30 days in a Malibu treatment facility for the treatment of her dependency on drugs and alcohol.

Jennifer is an award-winning actress to fans, but she is known by friends as the resident shrink, who has a penchant for being nurturing and a darn good listener.

During Portia’s previous marriage to a “controlling” husband, it was Aniston who came to her side to help her get beyond that tough time in her life. And as fate would have it, she’s front and center in the rumored split with Portia De Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres.

Randy Jernigan, a celebrity journalist, penned a book titled The Life and Career of Ellen DeGeneres, which is due out next month. Apparently, the tell-all read is an expose of Ellen and Portia’s relationship in a no holds barred rendering.

Jernigan teased the book with some scoop and skinny on DeGeneres and De Rossi with some tidbits about their mannerisms away from prying eyes. He lets on that Portia is plagued by low self-esteem, which is eroding her marriage to the popular talk show vet.

“She loves attention because she’s secretly so insecure. She also hates that her career is in the dumps,” he said.

He tells of Portia upsetting Ellen by taping their private blowups, and how it has placed a wedge between the two of them. And then, there’s talk in the book of them both tainting their marriage by cheating with others.

As for Ellen DeGeneres, the book dishes on her so-called darker side and also paints her role in the marriage to Portia as “controlling and manipulative.” Jernigan even talks about how the Arrested Development star is often confined to their home out of Ellen’s fierce jealousy.

Given that Hollywood has a reputation for shock and awe, along with manufactured headlines, it’s unknown if Portia and Ellen’s marriage is really on the rocks. However, Jennifer Aniston is not a bad friend to have on your side if you’re thinking about pulling the plug on marriage – or not.
