According to Android Police, YouTube will launch YouTube Music Key, a service that offers an ad-free music experience, audio-only playback, and offline playing.
Google‘s long-rumored plan to launch a music subscription service under its YouTube brand has been the subject of many debates, particularly in the music industry. In fact, we previously reported that YouTube already signed deals with 95 percent of the labels – a list that includes Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group.
However, the details of the so-called service are still shrouded in mystery. But thanks to the prying eyes of Android Police, we are finally getting a glimpse of YouTube Music Key, Google’s alleged subscription service.
Digital Music News first reported about Google’s newly-purchased URLs, most notably YouTubeMusicKey.com. According to Android Police, YouTube will launch YouTube Music Key, a service that offers an ad-free music experience, audio-only playback, and offline playing.
Additionally, Google will rebrand its existing Google Play Music All Access to a simpler Google Play Music Key. Interestingly, YouTube Key Music will be offering a 30-day free trial to lure customers. After that, the service will cost $9.99 a month, Android Police said.
For existing Play Music All Access users, the Wall Street Journal says that current subscribers can access YouTube Music Key without additional costs. Android Police adds that the service will also include concert videos and covers, on top of an artist’s catalog of songs.
YouTube fans are more likely to welcome Google’s new offering. But to convince other customers who prefer other alternatives like Spotify and Beats Music, Google needs to do more.
