Sears Offers Pick Up, Return, Exchange from Your Car in Less than 5 Minutes

Sears launched earlier this year a new service that let’s you pick up online orders while waiting in the car. Now you can also do returns and exchanges. Will this Work on Black Friday?

The Holiday shopping season is approaching fast. According to a survey by the National Retail Federation, 40% of Americans start their Holiday shopping before Halloween. There are many ways retailers compete for your Dollar. Sears has established a new service that lets you pick up your online orders at stores while sitting in your car. That is right you do not have to leave your car to Pick Up, Return, Exchange stuff you bought at Sears.

The Sears in-Vehicle Pickup service is powered by the Shop Your Way mobile app and lets members pick up, return or exchange their purchases for free guaranteed in five minutes or less.

“Buying what you really want should be easy that’s why we continue to make it more convenient to pick-up, return and exchange items that you have purchased right from your car,” said Leena Munjal, senior vice president, Sears Holdings. “We’re all living busy, on-the-go lives, and this latest expansion to Sears integrated retail conveniences means that you can spend less time making a return or exchange and more time shopping.”

I wonder if Sears will offer the In-Vehicle service also when it gets really busy like on Black Friday. According to Sears the In-Car Pick-Up service proofed to be very popular with customers.

“As a busy mother of two, it’s easy to get stressed with back-to-school, fall sports and the quickly approaching holiday season. That’s why I’ll be relying on shopping conveniences like this to make a return, swap sizes, or even exchange Christmas presents from the warmth of my car without having to unbuckle a single car seat,” said Jenny Sanzo, shopping expert, blogger and Shop Your Way Personal Shopper.

How it works:

1) To start an in-vehicle return or exchange, a member visits sears.com, clicks on the customer service link, chooses “Returns & Exchanges,” and then follows the prompts to identify the return item. For an exchange, the member selects a new item and when the replacement is ready for pickup, Sears sends an email confirmation.

2) The member then heads to the Sears store they selected, parks in a designated In-Vehicle Pickup spot, and uses the Shop’In feature in the Shop Your Way mobile app to let the store know he/she has arrived. A timer will start on the phone and, within five minutes, a Sears associate will arrive and complete the return or exchange.
