Kelly Osbourne gets Sentimental while speaking of Joan Rivers

Kelly Osbourne of The Osbournes got sentimental while speaking of the late Joan Rivers who was with her on The Fashion Police.

Kelly Osbourne and Joan Rivers built quite a rapport with each other on The Fashion Police. The two had obvious chemistry and were great pals despite the age difference. 

Now that Joan is no more with us, Kelly spoke about how being with her was such a joy and a wonderful experience to boot. She got teary-eyed while speaking about the deceased Joan. 

Kelly further shared the anecdote about Joan streaking her hair different colors. It was a helluva good time the two had shared together on the show and now that Joan had departed for the next world, Kelly felt lonely and sad without her mentor.

Meanwhile, several other costars of Joan on The Fashion Police also spoke kind words in which they remembered the wise old lady with a sense of humor.

Firstly, her daughter said that the platform had been the focus of a female comedienne who brought smiles and laughs on everyone’s lips. She gave a 100% accurate representation of the celebs and luminaries that got lampooned.

“The last four years this set has been home to the funniest, most outrageous voice in comedy. This chair was the place a woman spoke the truth about celebrities and fashion in a way that was hilarious and absolutely 100 percent original,” said Melissa Rivers.

“Tonight we want to say goodbye the only way my mom would want us to, by remembering the incredible jokes, the unbelievable guests, and all the moments on set and behind-the-scenes that made Fashion Police must-see television around the globe.”

During the tribute, old clips of Joan cracking some hilarious jokes got played to the audience. The laudatory remarks included mention being made of the risqué stuff Joan often used as raw material for her jokes.

Joan even made a howler of a joke by saying that a woman getting breast cancer can look forward to a new pair of breasts in the hospital after surgery.

“There were so many different types of jokes. Joan went everywhere. She went where no one else would dare to go,” Rancic remembered Joan Rivers.

“I came to the set for the first time, she said, ‘You got breast cancer, I heard. You’re gonna be fine. You know that, right? You’re having the surgery. You’re with a great doctor, at a great hospital.’ And you know what, she was right.”

“And didn’t she finish with, ‘You’re gonna get perfect new tits’?” Kelly Osbourne added. “It just clicked, and I felt like for the first time in my life, I knew what I was doing,” Osbourne said of the first episode of Fashion Police. “I knew where I was going, and I had the opportunity to not only work with one of my idols, but to work with one of the greatest legends this world has ever seen.”

“It’s not just because she was a comedian. She put them on the map,” Osbourne said. “She was the first person on the red carpet to ever ask the question, ‘Who are you wearing?’ With one question, she changed the entire fashion industry.”

The fact that Joan didn’t just make her audiences laugh but made them think is a feat in itself. She was an extraordinary woman with a many-tracked mind that was shrewd, perceptive and full of ten thousand ideas.

It is a tragedy of the highest order indeed that female comedians of the caliber of Joan are no more with us. She will be dearly missed since she laid the groundwork for later talented souls who often used material based on her original scripts.
