iPhone 6 Not As Bendy As Believed

Consumer Reports Tests Show that the iPhone has more stress tolerance than the HTC smartphone

Ever since the Bendgate issue emerged, reports have constantly flowed in from different sources; some in favor of Apple and others pointing fingers at its new design strategy. However, one such report came in from Consumer Reports which presented the review on the stress tests carried on the iPhone 6. It is believed that a ‘three point flexural test’ was conducted where where the phone is supported at each end with the force applied at a third point on the top. The phones tested on this platform included iPhone 5, 6 and 6 Plus along with a LG G3, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and HTC One (M8).

Numerous people also got the chance to visit Apple’s lab where around 30,000 iPhones were being put under the stress tests. Not much was revealed regarding these tests but somehow the weight applied to the phones during the tests was uncovered and it turned out to be 25 kilograms (slightly more than 55 pounds). However, Consumer Reports started at 10 pounds of force for its iPhone testing and after applying this force for 30 seconds it moved on to increase the weight by 10 pounds every time.

It tested for when the smartphone started to deform and then when the screen came loose from the case and the findings suggest that HTC was among the weakest as it came apart at the lowest stress levels followed by the iPhone 6 and then 6 Plus. This is some good news for Apple as an independent body has approved that the iPhone 6 can hold up well as compared to another smartphone.
