Julia Pierson Leaves Secret Service
After going through thorough interrogation by Congress, Secret Service director, Julia Pierson has decided to call it quits. The former director presented her resignation to the Homeland Security Secretary, Jeh Johnson. The Secret Service has lately come under a lot of pressure following incidences that have tainted a wrong image of it’s abilities and integrity.
According to Politico, Johnson stated that Julia had done a great job during her tenure in the service. He actually proceeded by picking Joseph Clancy from private practice and appointed him as the acting director of the Presidential Protective Division which falls under Secret Service.
The performance of the agency has been questioned by many people after an intruder allegedly climbed over the perimeter wall and made his way towards the main level of the White House. How the man managed to go past the security officers who man the wall is still a mystery. Fortunately, the intruder was stopped by an officer who was not on duty.
According to a report made public by The Washington Post, there was another instance when seven bullets hit the White House. The Secret Service officers ignored the allegations by arguing that they were a mere backfire coming from a construction equipment that was in the neighborhood.
In another Scenario, the post stated that President Obama was made to board the same lift with an armed contractor. The contractor is alleged to be in criminal records and Secret Service officers did not realize. Prior to Julia’s appointment, the agency was headed by Mark Sullivan. However, Mark too had to call it quits after a prostitution scandal came calling.
