Jimmer Fredette Shines at Pelicans
It’s high time New Orleans supporters embraced the new kid in the block. Jimmer Fredette was signed by the team as a guard and has proved that he is just more than a guard. Though the player was ranked among the best players in college basketball, he has not exhibited the same results at NBA. The star had a poor start and nobody expected him to be taken in by any team.
However, Jimmer has actually recorded very desirable performance during the recent three preseason games. The star has managed to get 17,10 and 13 points respectively. Though he is a guard, he has been doubling as a scorer without much struggle as one would expect. Jimmer seems to be learning the game really fast because he gets very minimal time in the courts.
When asked by Fox News what has contributed to his improved performance, Jimmer said that being present at all games does the magic for him. The player argued that all games are not equal and so he has learnt a lot from each of them. The star added that playing in many games regardless of time has ensured that he is not caught off guard by his opponents because he understands what to do depending on the scenario at hand.
Fansided reported that Jimmer is in deed a savior to Pelicans because the team had a loophole when Anthony Morrow left. The player proved that the team won’t miss a thing because he is able to make perimeter shoots just like Anthony did. There is no doubt that Jimmer will continue to up his game as long as he is allowed to utilize his talent before the onset of the next season.
Jimmer has been in NBA for just three years but unfortunately, the teams that had signed him did not exercise patience with him. Perhaps he would have performed better if the Kings and Chicago bulls gave him the time he so much needed. It seems Pelicans spotted him from a different angel and that is why they were able to see the potential in him.
On the other hand, Pelicans head coach, Monty Williams, feels that Jimmer is not doing what they signed him to do. The coach said he would appreciate if the player stuck to defending rather than making scores. However, William is hopeful that Jimmer will soon get used to his position as time gets by. The coach argued that the team still benefits from his ability to make amazing shoots.
The player has won many awards in the recent past. Back in 2011, Jimmer scooped the National Player of the Year Award. And as if that was not enough he went ahead to win the Wood Award, Naismith Award, Adolph Rupp Trophy and finally Oscar Robertson Trophy.
