Katy Perry will be performing next year during the halftime at the Super Bowl.

The performance of Katy Perry has been speculated upon since August after she was shortlisted by the National Football League along with Rihanna and Coldplay. But according to an insider now it has been confirmed that she will be performing at the Super Bowl halftime show.

The rumors had it that Katy Perry was a contender for the coveted Super Bowl slot along with the singer of the famous football song ‘Waka Waka’, Rihanna and Coldplay. NBC will air the Super Bowl XLIX on February 1st.

Katy has shown great interest in sports lately, at least at the college level. Last weekend she made an appearance at ESPN’s college Gameday in a black and hot pink furry jersey and implored Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight, “Call me!” and later on she partied with Ole Miss students.

According to an entertainment insider of the plan, a deal has been stuck with Katy Perry and she will perform at the coveted Super Bowl halftime show next year.

On ESPN, she criticized the NFL scheme according to which recording stars were asked to pay the league in order to perform at the Super Bowl stage last year. This scheme drew a record setting 111.5 million viewers.

Perry said that she isn’t the type of girl who would pay to play at the Super Bowl show. “I’m not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl,” she said.

When the NFL top brass was asked regarding this, they said that the negotiation between the National Football league and the artists is confidential.

Pepsi is the major sponsor of the halftime show and the brand has previously worked with Perry in order to promote her film “Part of Me”. But there is no official contract between Katy Perry and the soda brand.

According to Billboard, Katy Perry has a big gap in her tour dates around the Super Bowl thus she will be able to deliver bigger hits as compared to Bruno Mars last year. Also, she will be bringing in her 55.4 million Twitter followers to the Super Bowl show.
