The iPad Air 2 got a new camera with 8MP. It is with 6.1mm thinner than the iPhone 6, but the camera is not sticking out. What is wrong with the iPhone 6?
There are two things people don’t like about the iPhone 6 design. The protruding camera lens and those stupid antenna strips. Today Apple released the iPad Air 2 and it just looks flawless and it is even thinner than the iPhone 6. The iPad Air 2 is with 6.1mm thinner than a pencil. The iPhone 6 measures 6.9mm.
While the difference is just 0.8mm, the bigger difference is that the iPad Air 2 has a smooth backside. The camera lens does not stick out.
The iPad Air 2 iSight camera new 8MP sensor captures images in 3264-by-2448 native resolution and 1080p HD video. It also supports Time‑lapse Video, Exposure Control, 120‑fps Slo‑mo, Burst Mode, Timer Mode and High‑resolution Panorama.
The iPhone 6 camera has the same 8MP resolution but has more performance and optical image stabilization. The latter is likely responsible why the lens sticks out. Apple hyped the camera use of the iPad in the event, but did not add optical image stabilization to the new camera in the iPad Air 2. I guess Jonathan Ive won the argument on the iPad Air. A wiggling tablet would just not fly.
