Lakers Have to Go Without Steve Nash

Lakers have to get used to playing without Steve Nash. The Lakers guard has more than he can swallow. Steve has actually been demanding for child custody from his former wife, Alejandra Amarilla Menrath. Nash accused his former wife of plotting to milk money from him in the name of child support. This is because Menrath had relocated to California with the aim of demanding more money for her upkeep. The couple has three kids, two girls and one son.

In the mean time Inquisitr has reported that Nash will not participate in the 2014-15 season due to a nerve injury that has persisted since his second game. The Lakers guard was bought from Phoenix to play for three years. The team had anticipated that the legendary player would take them far but as fate would have it, their ambition was cut shot by a nerve injury.

Though he has not said when he will be ending his career, most people are interpreting his long absence from the courts to mean that it’s a wrap. The player has so far participated in only 15 matches in the recently ended season. That means he didn’t play in 32 games. After the injury, Nash had anticipated that he would make a comeback after one week. However, that did not happen because he has been on the bench for the last two months or so.

In a statement that was released by Lakers, Nash stated that he has been doing his level best to make sure he returns to the courts as soon as he can. He argued that he could not play until his back was in good shape.

“Being on the court this season has been my top priority, and it is disappointing to not be able to do that right now,” Nash said. “I work very hard to stay healthy, and unfortunately my recent setback makes performing at full capacity difficult. I will continue to support my team during this period of rest and will focus on my long-term health.”
Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak actually agreed that there is nothing they can do about Nash’s condition except to wait for his full recovery. “As disappointed as we are for ourselves and our fans, we’re even more disappointed for Steve,” Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak said in a statement.
“We know how hard he’s worked the last two years to try to get his body right for the rigors of the NBA, and how badly he wants to play, but unfortunately he simply hasn’t been able to get there up to this point in time. Steve has been a consummate professional, and we greatly appreciate his efforts.”
Lakers were definitely disappointed after buying Dwight Howard at the cost of an arm and a leg only for them to loose 27-55 in the last season. Perhaps they had signed him in to compensate for the vacuum that had been left by Nash. However, all is not lost for Lakers because they have three more guards : Jeremy Lin, rookie Jordan Clarkson and veteran Ronnie Price. But the team is yet to confirm Price.
