The first trailer of the Neill Blomkamp’s movie Chappie has been recently released and we have Hugh Jackman as one of the main characters of the movie.

Last time Neil Blomkamp made a movie, it was Elysium and the District 9 movie. They both were absolutely magnificent and now he has released the first trailer of his new movie “Chappie”. The movie looks like a mixture of Short Circuit and District 9. We get a machine that could think and feel like a real person.

The machine in this trailer is seen learning from the things happening in its environment. We see people arguing that artificial intelligence is too unpredictable. Hugh Jackman comes into the movie and he argues the same thing. He doesn’t trust the robots.

Chappie is the name of the robot in this movie and we will see him learning different things from the world. The robot at one point starts learning that it is cool to wear gold chains and be tough. Consequently we see the robot wearing gold chains at one point.

The new Avengers movie trailer was also recently released but this movie is bringing something different to the table and this is why a lot of people are anticipating its release. Chappie looks similar to Wall-E in the aspect that it doesn’t look like it is going to kill you.

In other movies like the Avengers movies we only see life threatening robots. On the other hand we get Hugh Jackman who has a mullet. The movie will be released next year. This is another thought provoking movie by Neil Blomkamp and he wants to give people a different view of artificial intelligence.

Sharlto Copley works regularly with Neil and in this movie we will see him starring as the titular robot Chappie and he will be using the motion capture technology. Chappie will be adopted by a dysfunctional family who are also criminals.

Chappie is played by Dev Patel and he was created by a young scientist. Some people might recall Real Steel when they see this movie. Chappie is presented as a child who is learning daily from different things. Dev’s character will tell Chappie that world is his oyster.

Hugh Jackman will be seen opposing the ideas of having robots. All of Neil’s movies were nominated for an Oscar because they were good enough. We will be expecting the same from Neil this time around. The expectation are higher than ever and people want a new kind of movie.

Chappie promises to deliver us just that. Hugh Jackman has been growing the mullet and it has been ten months now. We will see Chappie being kidnapped by the criminals. Chappie on the other hand is preternaturally gifted. Jackman isn’t one of the criminals.

Although having a mullet should be a criminal offense in the 21st century. Simon Kinberg who was the producer of X-Men said that it is one of the most original, unique and provocative studio movies.

The official synopsis of Chappie is given below:

Every child comes into the world full of promise, and none more so than Chappie: he is gifted, special, a prodigy. Like any child, Chappie will come under the influence of his surroundings – some good, some bad – and he will rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. But there’s one thing that makes Chappie different from anyone else: he is a robot. The first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. His life, his story, will change the way the world looks at robots and humans forever.

Besides Hugh Jackman, Chappie’s other cast include Sharlto Copley, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Sigourney Weaver, South African group members Die Antwoord and Dev Patel. The movie is set to hit theaters on March 6, 2015.
