The MTV Stars official website is keeping tally of the votes 24/7. The results will be revealed on December 20th at 12 p.m. #MTVStars is one of the top 10 Twitter trends.
MTV, the home of world music celebrates the end of 2014 with MTV Stars. The online voting competition between the best of the best artists and musicians this year is being decided by the public. MTV will ask the fans to vote for their favorite artist on Twitter by putting their artist in after #MTVStars. The voting will continue till 16th December. The fans could watch the live battle on the MTV Stars official page.
The 50 stars nominated to receive your votes are being voted right now as we speak. The artists are also being considered in different categories as follows; urban, rock, dance, groups, girls, boys and Rising Star. The stars are also being voted as individual acts. The 50 artists featuring on the list battling it out for the votes and nothing is for sure. The individual voting will also determine the fate of the category winners.

One Direction is leading the board for two consecutive weeks now. One Direction is a British boy band assembled in X-Factor. The boys have the greatest fan following since their days on the show and have emerged as a global phenomenon. This year they did a worldwide “Where We Are Tour” and won multiple awards including Teen Choice Award, BBMA and MTV Europe Award. Their next album “Four” is released on 17th November and the group has reached sky high. That’s not all. Their tour for next year has already been announced and tickets are available online. The boy band has a proven fan base of “Directioners” and they are voting like crazy to make One Direction the number one on the MTV Stars list.

Closely following them is Justin Bieber. Justin’s Journal collection and album Believe served as basis for his musical popularity. Winning a Billboard Music Award, BMI award and a MTV Music Award for Never Say Never. He has been popular this year for his public stunts but that seems to have put him in the second spot.

The third artist is Lady Gaga, with her world tour and her eccentric style the Mother Monster collaborated with American jazz artist Tony Bennett and released an album of the genre, Cheek to Cheek. The album was released on September 19, 2014 and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, becoming Gaga’s third consecutive number-one record in the United States. Lana Del Rey has been a trending star. Other than her stylish appearance and public popularity, it has been a big year for Del Ray. With her song, Once upon a Dream featuring in Maleficient and her song featuring while Kanye proposed to Kim Kardashian. She also performed on their wedding. Her album Ultraviolence was sensational. With single hits like West Coast, Shades of Cool, Ultraviolence and Brooklyn Baby released over the months, it has been a greatly productive year for Lana.

Demi Lovato has enjoyed a lot of fan attention from her judging position on the X Factor Panel. She won MTV award and Teen Choice Awards this year pending her Demi World Tour. She has announced work on her next album due to be released next year. Demi currently holds 5th position and the tables could definitely turn as she is a strong contender to win the girls category.

She has been on world tour, she just released the most successful album of the year, 1989. Yes! It’s Taylor Swift. The blonde sensation is currently tailing Demi Lovato and she is sure to pick up on the list as she did on the iTunes and Billboard charts since the release of her album. she has been a hit performance on the Grammys and has been promoting 1989 all year. It paid off and she is the most successful female star right now but when it comes to fans voting, anyone could win.

Taylor’s fan better pick up the pace before 16th December. The Nickelodeon’s sweet starlet had a busy year in 2014. She released her chart topping album My Everything. It has been a peppy and upbeat album and got rave reviews for Grande. Her single Problem featuring Iggy Azalea was one of the most tending tracks this year and even won her a MTV Music Award. The same show she performed on solo and then in an act with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj.

Ariana is the rising star and is definitely gathering some votes on the MTV Stars list followed by the hottest rapper in town, Nicki Minaj. Anaconda was definitely a head raiser this year especially with Nicki’s twerking. Her movie debut in The Other Woman was cool but her third album The Pinkprint was her music scene this year. Nicki also changed her image this year. She changed her signature blonde hair to black and did a wardrobe makeover as well. People like Nicki in her bizzaro style and her songs were as fresh as ever. Nicki is holding fort at number 8 spot on the list.

Miley Cyrus however is Wrecking Ball at the 9th spot. The VMA winning artist has been in all kinds of headlines for her explicit behavior on tours. Her Bangerz tour has been one of the most attended tours this year following the release of her album of the same.

Rihanna however beat Little Mix for the number 10 spot this week. Rihanna has been working on her new album this year but that won’t keep her fans for voting her. She performed Monster with Eminem this year on MTV Music Awards and the video of the song was nominated on the VMAs so she has been pretty much still on the scene. Rihanna is steadily gathering stride and might beat all the stars as she has beaten Little Mix already who had been exceptionally busy this year with their new album and a world tour.

The list also includes (in no particular order), Little Mix, Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Iggy Azalea, Coldplay, Paramore, Katy Perry, Beyonce, The Vamps, 5 Seconds of Summers, Nicole Scherzinger, Meghan Trainor, Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding, Charli XCX, Cheryl, Eminem, Sia, Kiesza, Ella Henderson, Chris Brown, Enrique Iglesias, Justin Timberlake, Sam Smith, Calvin Harris, Jason Derulo, Pharrell, Marron 5, Avicii, David Guetta, Pitbull, Will.I.Am and Duke Dumont.
While other stars are present along the list, it will definitely be a defining battle of fans rather than the stars for the top ten spots as the contest will come to a close. The winners will be announced on 20th December in a special show for the awards at 12 p.m.
