Recording artist Katy Perry plans to diss main rival Taylor Swift during her Super Bowl XLVIX Pepsi Halftime Show on Feb. 1.
It turns out Katy Perry is planning to diss her main nemesis, Taylor Swift, during her Super Bowl XLIX Pepsi Halftime Show.
HollywoodLife.com’s Julianne Ishler confirmed this in her Jan. 3 update. Perry told Ishler she wants to “show she is the biggest female act,” putting to rest any doubts about who is the better performer between her and Swift.
Ishler spoke with a source who reveals what Perry has up her sleeve for her Super Bowl XLIX performance:
“Katy is in complete rehearsal mode for her Super Bowl performance, she wants to make it feel like a complete party and something that will be remembered forever.
“She wants to make a statement with her performance and show that she is the biggest female act in the world and she wants to show that to everyone, including Taylor, who she has a feud with. In Katy’s eyes, no one can compete on her level.”
Perry’s boyfriend Diplo stoked the fire even more back in November, per Ishler. Diplo created a meme which poked fun at Swift’s posterior. He wrote “Get Taylor Swift a Booty Campaign” as a caption.
Swift has also done her part to intensify the heated rivalry with Perry.
In Sept. 2014, U.S. Magazine’s Allison Takeda reported that Swift’s song “Bad Blood” was a reference to Perry and not Miley Cyrus, as many earlier speculated.

In the aftermath, Perry tweeted, “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing..”
Ishler’s own source confirmed it was Perry’s reaction to Swift’s song. The source said,”Katy knows Taylor’s song is about her, which is why she tweeted that.”
Perry told Rolling Stone Magazine (via U.S. Magazine) last year she was uncertain about where she stood with Swift as far as their friendship is concerned. She also said business was at the forefront of their feud:
“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think,’Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’ [Then last year] she did something so horrible. I was like,’Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy!
“She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.”
The NFL issued a press release confirming Perry as the halftime performer for Super Bowl XLIX on Nov. 24, 2014. She will be featured on the most-watched musical show of the year. Bruno Mars’ performance for the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show last season garnered 115 million viewers.
Perry is known for hits such as “I Kissed A Girl,” Hot N’ Cold,” “Thinking of You,” “Waking Up In Vegas,” “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.” and “Last Friday Night,” per NFL.com. She is currently on her Prismatic World Tour, which sold out 17 arenas in the United Kingdom, 66 arenas in North America and 25 arenas in New Zealand and Australia in 2014. The tour continues this year with stops in Europe, Asia and South America.
