CES 2015 just launched, but Belty is already winning the prize for craziest gadget of CES.
French start-up Emiota made a splash at CES 2015 with Belty – a smart belt that adjusts automatically and also monitors your waist. When you sit down Belty automatically loosens and tightens again when you stand up. The smart belt notifies you when your waistline gets too big and you need to start losing weight.
At first Belty appears to be a complete nutty idea, but it is not so weird when I think about it. For years I have worn only belts that are adjustable seamlessly with a clasp. This way I can adjust them easily and I do loosen it when I sit down or eat too much. On the other hand having to charge a belt is really overkill.
Emiota Co-Founder Johann Gobba says that Belty is still under development, but should arrive on the market in Q4. Pricing is still unknown.
