Apple beats Nikon with 0.3 percent to get the second spot on the Camera brand ranking on Flickr
The online photo sharing service, Flickr, has released data which shows details regarding the most popular camera rankings of 2014. The Flickr platform has over a 100 million users who uploaded 10 billion photos last year and for these the usual standouts of Canon and Nikon edged out most of the competition but what the most appealing feature was that Apple has moved past Nikon and managed to get itself on the second place in the rankings.
Focusing on the top five brands of the ranking, the first place was taken by Canon with 13.4 percent and Apple followed in second with 9.6 percent and the third came in Nikon with 9.3 percent. The other two spots were filled in by Sony and Samsung for two consecutive years. It has been a while since we have heard of the individual iPhone models being registered as the most popular camera devices on Flickr but prior to the entry of Apple in 2014, the major spots were retained by major traditional camera manufacturers Canon and Nikon with as many as several hundred different models on the market.
Flickr has also detailed the top mobile device cameras used on online service and the top ten list was topped by Apple. The top five places were held by the most popular iPhone models including iPhone 5 (10.6 percent), iPhone 4s (7.0 percent), iPhone 4 (4.3 percent), and the iPhone 5c (2.0 percent). And the iPhone 6, iPad, and iPad mini also found their way into this top ten list.
