OSCARS NOMINATIONS 2015 are Here

OSCARS NOMINATIONS 2015-they’re here and we are excited!

It’s that time of the year again, that time when the stars crossing their fingers, the fans starting hushing and gushing. The designers start to show off their brilliant collections and the Dolby Theatre gets a clean up.

Yes! The Oscar fever has started. The 87th Academy Awards aka Oscar awards presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences comes at the start of each year and the first thing that gets the hype up more than the ceremony is the announcement of the nominees.

The lists were just announced and we are excited to see the best talent of the past year in this category. We start with the last award first. The Best Picture category has definitely been selective this year and instead of its record holding ten movies line up five years back, this year 8 movies made it to the top.

Starting the movie is Clint Eastwood’s biographical war drama American Sniper. Starring Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller is based on the American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History. The movie has been nominated and has already won awards at multiple platforms.

The next in line is the Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). The film was directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu. It stars Michael Keaton with Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone, and Naomi Watts. The movie has received critical acclaim since its release and it has some crazy charisma to receive an Oscar.

Boyhood is the next in line, a coming of age drama written and directed by Richard Linklater. The film was shot over a 12 years span and has been called one of a kind and innovative. It contains some amazing performances from the star cast. The movie has already won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Motion Picture. That gives it a little more leverage, don’t you think?

The next nomination is The Grand Budapest Hotel starring an extensive star cast and a light wit humor that would crack you right up. It is the other movie to have picked up a Golden Globe in its category of Best Musical and Comedy Motion Picture.

The Benedict Cumberbatch biographical feature, The Imitation Game is the next name on the list for the Best Picture.

The 1964 Civil Rights Act drama produced by Oprah Winfrey ‘Selma’ is also nominated for the category.

The Stephen Hawking biographical epic ‘The Theory of Everything’ is also a favorite on the list of the Best Picture nominees.

The music inspired intense drama ‘Whiplash’ is the last movie on the list. It has some inspiringly intense performances that have earned it its way for this prestigious nomination.

The next category that is equally as important as the Best Picture is the Best Director. Time and over again, it has been said that the director holds the whole movie together so this award is pretty cut throat.

First director up is Alejandro G. Iñárritu for Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). Iñárritu has definitely made a historical effort and has already been commended for his efforts. Richard Linklater; the director for Boyhood has definitely pulled all the stops. Directing a movie for 12 years is a commendable effort. Bennett Miller has been nominated for the sports drama Foxcatcher. Wes Anderson has been nominated for his direction on the comedy The Grand Budapest Hotel. Morten Tyldum has been nominated for his work in direction in the Imitation Game.

The next category that has all of the fans excited is the Best Actor category. Steve Carell has been nominated for his role in the Foxcatcher for the first time ever. The other nominee enjoying his first time nomination is Benedict Cumberbatch for his portrayal of Alan Turing in The Imitation Game. Although Cumberbatch was on the Oscars last year with regard to his role in 12 Years a Slave which won the Best Picture award, he was not nominated. Another actor also earned a first time nomination on his returning performance to Hollywood. Michael Keaton has been acclaimed and is a favorite for this year’s Best Actor category. Eddie Redmayne didn’t get it in Les Miserables but he has definitely gotten the big nomination this year in the Best Actor category. Finishing off the list is Bradley Cooper for his portrayal as Chris Kyle in The American Sniper.

The Best Actress nominees this year are explosive talent this year. Julianne Moore is pulling favors for her role in Still Alice. Having already won a Golden Globe for her performance, she is definitely being rooted for by the fans and critics. Marion Cotilard receives a nomination once more for Best Actress for her role in Two Days, One Night. The other actress who’s already been up there is Reese Witherspoon. This time she has been nominated for her role in the movie ‘Wild’. Receiving her first Oscar nomination this year is Rosamund Pike for Gone Girl’s role Amy Dunn. The youngest in the pack of nominations is the British actress, Felicity Jones for the movie The Theory of Everything.

The Best Supporting Actor nominees include; Robert Duvall for The Judge, Ethan Hawke in the Boyhood, Edward Norton in Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) has given a riveting performance. Mark Ruffalo has been nominated for the movie Foxcatcher supporting Channing Tatum and Steve Carell. Last but not the least is J.K. Simmons for his intensive role in Whiplash.

The Best Supporting Actress nominees include Patricia Arquette for the Linklater movie, Boyhood. The Oscar nominee veteran Laura Dern for the movie Wild, the other nominee veteran Kiera Knightley for Imitation Game, the young and talented is also nominated for her role in the Birdman. For her nomination once more is Meryl Streep for her portrayal of the Witch in the move ‘In The Woods’.

The next category that receives our attention is for Best Writing in both categories i.e. Original Screenplay and Adapted Screenplay. For the Best Writing in the Original Screenplay category are; Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) Written by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Nicolás Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris, Jr. & Armando Bo, Boyhood written by Richard Linklater, Foxcatcher written by E. Max Frye and Dan Futterman, The Grand Budapest Hotel Screenplay by Wes Anderson; Story by Wes Anderson & Hugo Guinness and Nightcrawler written by Dan Gilroy.
