- Elon Musk is building a 5-miles long Hyperloop Test Track
- Companies and Student Teams can test out their Pods at Track
Elon Musk lauded Texas as the site of his future plans for a Hyperloop Track. It is yet to be seen how this fantasy gets translated into reality. And Elon Musk is also planning to hold an annual student Hyperloop Pod Racer Competition.
Elon Musk is at it again. The head of Tesla Motors announced that he wanted to construct a test track termed the Hyperloop Test Track. The site which would provide the necessary space for the novel transportation system would be none other than Texas.
The plan is to shift passengers in high speed capsules at great heights at 800 mph. When Musk spoke of it as a prototype about a year back, it was met with both supporters and detractors.
Yet today, it is about to enter the stage where the very concept and precept gets changed into realistic form. The Hyperloop test track will get constructed from scratch and it will be five miles in length.

Elon also wanted to directly sell his company’s electric cars to customers instead of through dealerships. Elon spoke to a large crowd of concerned citizens and allayed their fears regarding this new and bold venture.
He said that everything was covered and the scheme had the protective influence of years of engineering and technology behind it. Furthermore, Musk spoke of how the whole ordeal was to be financially independent and he said that not a single cent would be taken from the coffers of the state of Texas.
According to Musk the idea of a Hyperloop began with a couple of friends over a few glasses of liquor. As the atmosphere became relaxed, they all started to unwind and the ideas began flowing.
A SpaceX facility was to be built in the southern region of Texas too. So far Elon has met with stiff resistance from most Texas lawmakers. He insists that it is absurd and weird since the practice is totally unlike the nature of most Texans.
Musk wanted to overcome this hesitant nature of the Texas litigators. He had extended a friendly hand but was being shown a fist in return. Musk finally said that all he and his company really wanted was for Texans to have the right to decide for themselves how they wanted to purchase their vehicles.
Elon Musk is also thinking of holding an annual student Hyperloop pod racer competition, like Formula SAE. He revealed his plan in his tweet that is given below.

As for the Hyperloop, it is something out of science fiction. To transport passengers in pods at the speed of sound is a dangerous proposal. The high costs and risks match the usage of nuclear energy which too is shaky business. Either Elon Musk is a visionary or he is on a wild goose chase.
