Emma Watson will play Belle Role in Beauty and the Beast

Watson announces that she be playing Belle in Disney’s upcoming live-action movie “Beauty and the Beast”.

It is official. Emma Watson will play the role of Belle in Disney’s new live action movie which is based on their popular animated film Beauty and the Beast. Watson’s ‘Beauty’ role is a childhood dream of every girl and Emma Watson will now get to live it out. Filming begins later this year for Beauty and the Beast. 

Emma Watson, 24, best known for her role in the Harry Potter series, is now going from Wizard to Princess. Watson’s ‘Beauty’ role is similar to her studious and bookworm character of Hermione Granger, yet different than the work she has completed since the Potter series. She made the announcement today with great excitement. 

Emma Watson announces on her official Facebook page today that she will be playing Belle role in Beauty and the Beast. She posts a message that she is beyond excited about the opportunity to be in Beauty and the Beast. She goes on to say that the feeling is surreal and she cannot wait to get started. She is singing her favorite songs from when she was six years old. 

From Emma Watson’s Facebook message, where she states that it’s time to start some singing lessons, audiences can say safely that there will be a lot of singing and dancing for the young actress and the live action version will be no less captivating as the original animated version of Beauty and the Beast. 

The movie Beauty and the Beast follow’s behind Cinderella, which Disney has also made as a live action version of the original animation. Disney is all set to release Cinderella this March.  

It will be interesting to see how Emma Watson’s Belle handles Gaston, who is depicted as an uneducated, chauvinist and sexist, who thinks it’s strange that Belle is reading. Considering Emma Watson is also a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, who recently spoke at the United Nations Women’s He for She campaign, which is dedicated to gender equality and women empowerment. 

Beauty and the Beast, since its release in the 1990’s, has been a favorite of young girls who dream of being Princesses and being swept off their feet by Prince Charming.  To play Belle in Beauty and the Beast is a dream come true for any girl that grew up on Disney movies. 

Beauty and the Beast story shows the strength of a young girl to be true to her nature and it is a movie that teaches people of all ages that ‘you should never judge a book by its cover’ and that fairy tales do come true. Emma Watson’s reaction (for playing the role of Belle in Beauty and the Beast) of being excited and being on the ceiling is the reaction any girl with such a chance would have had.
