Burj Al Arab celebrates 15th anniversary with 24k gold iPhone 6s

There are only 15 of them and can only be purchased from the Burj Al Arab

It is not unusual that iPhone 6 is getting the luxury treatment once again. This time however, the spotlight is not on the iPhone but on Dubai’s majestic Burj Al Arab – the self-titled “world’s only 7 star hotel”. And for its 15ht anniversary celebrations, the top notch hotel didn’t took to candles and cakes like everyone else would; instead it resorted to something much more luxurious – the iPhone 6.

The iPhone 6 in its original form was not so much of a celebratory attraction for the Arabs and so we are talking about 15 bespoke gold iPhones. It was reported by Emirates 24|7 last year in September that Dubai residents were going bananas over the iPhone 6 units which hadn’t even arrived at the UAE shores and they were lapping up iPhone 6 units in gold and black gold for as much as Dh21,995 per unit.

Gold & Co London, the company that handles the Burj Al Arab-branded 24K gold iPads and iPhones received 500 pre-orders within a few days and this was weeks before the device was officially available in the market as confirmed by the company’s CEO Amjad Ali.

Dubai’s Burj Al Arab now wants to have its own set of gold iPhone 6 units to celebrate its 15th anniversary as @BurjAlArab tweeted “To mark our 15th anniversary, we have collaborated with Gold & Co. to create 15 iPhone 6 in yellow & black gold.” Along with this, the Gold & Co London company also took to its Instagram and said “It was an honour for us to help commemorate the 15 Year Anniversary of the @BurjAlArab hotel by creating 15 bespoke Limited Edition iP6 in 24k Gold and Black Gold.”

CEO Ali amjad has shed some more light on these gold units saying that “These units are limited to 15 units of each and are available to buy only at the Burj Al Arab. Each unit takes around 80 man hours to produce and has a separate round Burj Al Arab anniversary logo on the back of the unit.” He further added, “Each unit comes with its own gold plated identification and authenticity plaque, showing the units number and IMEI number.”
