Apple hires a famous BBC DJ.
Apple continues to make headlines without announcing anything. The massive Apple Car rumors are still with us this week and will be for a long time. Famous British DJ Zane Lowe is leaving BBC Radio 1 for Apple.
His last show will air on March 5 reports the BBC.
Zane Lowe said according to the report: “I want to thank everyone at Radio 1 for their support and friendship. “The station has allowed me to share incredible music with the country’s best music fans.”
The BBC DJ, who has joined BBC in 2003, has featured high profile artists in his show and interviewed for instance Kanye West, Jay Z and Eminem. Zane is also into producing music and worked also on Sam Smith’s latest album. He apparently very well connected in the music world and discovered many new artists in his time at Radio 1, but what does Apple want from him?
With the purchase of Beats, Apple has already made many new connections into the music world. Adding a British DJ is kind of interesting, but might not mean something big. Mr. Lowe might just become some sort of manager for iTunes projects. He might not even move to the United States. We might never hear of his work at Apple.
DJ Annie Mac will take over Zane Lowe’s show on Radio 1.
