Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter had announced their engagement in November last year and finally tied the knot in the presence of close friends.
Benedict Cumberbatch rise to fame has been a spectacle to watch. He has become a worldwide phenomenon with a legion of “Cumberbitches” and die-hard fans of his amazing work in his lead. With all the fame and game working in his favor, there is only one fair maiden that owns our favorite Brits’ heart.
Back in 2009, Cumberbatch met the beautiful Sophie Turner as they co-starred in the Burlesque Fairytales. They started dating for just over a year. The couple definitely fell hard for each other when they announced their engagement in a most traditionally conventional way in the “Forthcoming Marriages” column in the Times newspaper.
The announcement read: “The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London.” While the world was still recovering from the news, Cumberbatch and Hunter also announced that they were expecting a baby.

Although no official date was put forth for the wedding day but it was anticipated to be soon. It doesn’t get sooner then this Sunday. A spokesman for Cumberbatch announced on BBC Radio 1 that the couple had indeed tied the knot in what might be called a “magical day”.
The rumors were that the couple will be getting married around Valentine’s Day, one day later is just fine as well. The ceremony took place in a small parish church in the Isle of Wight. The guests are said to have included close friends of the couple including Tom Hiddleston, Sherlock co-stars Martin Freeman (Dr. Watson) and Andrew Scott (Moriarty). Martin Freeman was the best man at the ceremony.
The fans have mixed opinions about the celebrity’s wedding. Many are wishing the newly wed couple all the best along with their soon to be born baby. Cumberbatch has said in interviews that he was happy as an only child but he would like to be a part of a big family. His wishes are supported by his fans and they are happy for him. the other side of the story consists of bewildered fans who still cannot believe that the man of their dreams is off the market.
Still all the fans will be supporting him as he will be walking down the Red Carpet as an Oscar nominee for his role as Alan Turing in the war drama The Imitation Game.
