Scarlett Johansson finally mans up to form her own super pop band with Holly Miranda, Kendra Morris, Julia Haltigan and Este Haim. Johansson’s new girl band ‘The Singles’ has dropped its first song ‘Candy’.
Scarlett Johansson versatility has been a great asset to her career. She has been acting from a very young age and since she started looking absolutely gorgeous, she has modeled for a lot of magazines. She has recently taken on the action hero platform and managed to deliver top notch performances.
Since long ago, she has been trying her luck in the music world. She featured in an album of Tom Waits covers which was a Serge Gainsbourg-inspired collaboration with Pete Yorn. Other than that she played a role in Bob Dylan’s vintage music video “When the Deal Goes Down”. She has featured in the soundtrack of a few movies but she has never created music independently.
All of that seems to be changing presently. Scarlett has her inspiration regarding the direction of how her music should be like. Grimes, the Bangles and the Go-Go’s are the all-girls bands Scarlett seems to draw her aspirations from. Scarlett Johansson told RollingStone that she wants to make music that is ultra pop but a little ironic at the same time, like they are in on some kind of joke.
With that in mind, Scarlett has gone ultra super-pop and she’s not flying solo. She has formed an all-girls band named ‘The Singles’. Her band members are Holly Miranda, Kendra Morris and Julia Haltigan. Este Haim, the oldest of the Haim sisters is the drum player for this all girl music endeavor.
The Singles first song is already available. It has been titled “Candy”. Scarlett has sung the song of course. She said that they wanted to make a super pop dance song like Robyn’s songs. The tempo of the song is along the electro mash genre. Candy is yet to be released as an official single with Federal Prism label. But you can pre-order Candy here.
