‘Birdman’ and ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ are the top Winners of the 2015 Oscars with 4 awards each, while heavily nominated ‘Boyhood’ only won one award.
The ‘Birdman’ is a satire about a washed up Hollywood actor famous for playing the role of Birdman in films made decades ago, trying to reinvent himself as a credible Broadway actor. The film stars Michael Keaton in the main character and was directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu. Birdman was the prime winner at the 2015 Oscars and won four major categories.
‘Birdman’ secured the biggest award of the Academy Awards ‘Best Picture’ along with three other major awards. The director Alejandro González Iñárritu was awarded ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Screenplay’ along with fellow screenwriters; Nicolas Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris Jr, and Armando Bo.

Huge congrats to @PattyArquette for her well-deserved @TheAcademy award! We love you! pic.twitter.com/k53lKuKinR— Boyhood (@BoyhoodMovie) February 23, 2015
The most disappointing move on part of the Oscars committee was the snub to movie ‘Boyhood’ an art-house hit. The adolescent drama took an unbelievable 12 years to make and had a whopping 6 nominations but only won one award. Boyhood was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Screenplay, but only Patricia Arquette won the Best Supporting Actress award, who took the stage to raise awareness about gender equality in her acceptance speech.
Fans of the film use Twitter to display their frustration and one fan even described the snub as the ‘Worst Mistake’ the Academy Awards Committee has made in decades. Although Birdman is an excellent movie fans believed ‘Boyhood’ deserved the title of ‘Best Picture’ more.
Don’t worry Boyhood, I’ve basically been in a classroom for 12 years of my life and I also have nothing to show for it— Hannah (@foIIowbaby) February 23, 2015

Six hours later and I’m still sad that Boyhood lost. There should be a special award just for the novel concept behind the film.— Kissa Castañeda (@kissacastaneda) February 23, 2015
Disappointed for Boyhood, too subtle for its own good. To win, the boy needed to grow up to be a serial killer or die appealingly#Oscars2015— Allison Pearson (@allisonpearson) February 23, 2015
