Lupita Nyong’o Custom made Calvin Klein dress made up of 6000 pearls she wore on the Academy awards red carpet was stolen yesterday from her hotel room in West Hollywood.
Last Sunday Lupita Nyong’o wore a custom made Calvin Klein dress on the 87th Academy Awards red carpet and dazzled the world with the combination. The white colored dress consisted of a halter look with thousands of pearl all around the silhouettes.
Sadly the magnificent dress responsible for landing Lupita on the best dressed lists around the world and making her a fashion icon was stolen yesterday from Lupita’s room at The London Hotel in West Hollywood. Lupita had been staying at the hotel for a few weeks and the burglar would have been privy to its location due to the efficiency with which the theft has occurred.
The custom made on of a kind dress was not just simply an elegant and beautiful dress but its worth equals to huge amount of cash. The cost of the number of pearls on the dress alone is equal to a veritable fortune. The white halter made up of 6000 real natural white pearls and is worth a huge sum of $150000.
The dress was designed as collaboration between the designer Francisco Costa and Lupita herself especially for her walk down the 2015 Oscars red carpet as a special event. In an interview with Vogue magazine when asked to comment on the dress and why the designer specially chose to work with pearls, Costa said he decided to use the pearls because they are naturally beautiful and used pearls of many different sizes on the dress.
The dress was stolen from the hotel between 8 am to 9 pm when Lupita was not present in her room. According to TMZ sources at 11:23 pm a call was made to the LAPD to inform them about the theft and seek assistance.
The LAPD is currently investigating the theft and studying the security surveillance footage to determine who came and left the room during Lupita’s absence. The footage /4/be able to give an insight on who entered the room and at what time, even if it was a cleaning crew and were there any particular times the room door was open.
The entire hotel staff and all of its occupants are currently suspects in the case. The police and LAPD detectives are also interviewing the hotel staff and all possible witnesses to come up with potential suspects or catch the culprit.
In a statement to E! News that The London Hotel issue after the shocking news of the theft came out, the hotel administration declared the incident is an unfortunate occurrence and they are working with the law enforcement to help them on all possible avenues.
Even if the dress is recovered the hotel /4/have to face future notoriety due to safety issues as high class clients would not feel comfortable living in a place where theft could be a possibility of their expensive and personal items.
