Apple Watch Mockery Goes Rampant

The Apple Watch announcements triggered a huge wave of Apple Watch mockery online. Especially the $10,000 price tag (starting price) for the Apple Watch Edition inspires jokes.

Actress Anna Kendrick wrote on Twitter: “We should be thanking Apple for launching the $10,000 “apple watch” as the new gold standard in douchebag detection.” This Tweet got retweeted over 18,500 times and 32,000 have favorited it. This is just one among many Apple Watch jokes that flooded the web after the Apple event on March 9. Apple Watch mockery are among the most shared content in the hours after the event according to BuzzSumo.

The Germans are among the most creative in mocking the Apple Watch. Satire site Die Tages Presse carried a report that said that the social ministry issued guidance to put buyers of the $10,000 Apple Watch Edition under custodianship.

The German satire site Der Postillion landed a social hit with their story that Apple solved the battery problem on the Apple Watch with a wind up mechanism. To keep the Apple Watch running in stand-by for 15 minutes users would need to turn the digital crown for one minute.
