Tag Heuer announced at the Basel World 2015 that the Swiss company partners with Google and Intel for the Tag Heuer Smartwatch.
The Tag Heuer Smartwatch slowly takes shape at the Basel World 2015. TAG Heuer, Google, and Intel have announced a partnership to launch a Swiss smartwatch powered by Intel technology and Android Wear.
Together, these companies aim to create a smartwatch that is both luxurious, and seamlessly connected to its wearer’s daily life. It is supposed to melt the creativity and design from Silicon Valley in California and the Watch Valley in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
“Swiss watchmaking and Silicon Valley is a marriage of technological innovation with watchmaking credibility. Our collaboration provides a rich host of synergies, forming a win-win partnership, and the potential for our three companies is enormous,” said Jean-Claude Biver, President of the Watch Division LVMH Group and CEO of TAG Heuer.
Tag Heuer will have to do a lot of marketing to convince Tag Heuer fans that Android is the a match for a Tag Heuer watch. I am not convinced that this collaboration will work and result in something that is worthy the Tag Heuer brand.
Jean-Claude Biver is very euphoric about this partnership which he expressed in this Bloomberg interview after the press conference at the Basel World 2015. He will though be the first to shout at Google when their are bugs.
The first Tag Heuer smartwatch is expected this Fall.
