Joseph Gordon-Levitt will not only be starring in the movie but will also be producing the movie.
Fans will now be able to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt producing and acting in the new live action ‘Fraggle Rock’ movie for New Regency, The Henson Co. and Lisa Henson.
The movie is basically an adaption of the musical puppet series that was created by the late Jim Henson. The movie has been in the making for nearly a decade now and with the addition of Gordon-Levitt it has given the movie a major boost.
As a part of a co-production by British TV Company Television South, HBO, Canadian Broadcasting Corp. and Henson Associates the ‘Fraggle Rock’ debuted on TV in 1983. The show was based on the adventures of cave dwelling creatures which were known as Fraggles.
These Fraggles had to deal with the Doozers and the furry giants which were called Gorgs. The project was set up at News Regency in 2011 and Montecito Pictures will not be involved with the project anymore. It still remains unclear to why Montecito Pictures backed itself from the project.
When asking Gordon-Levitt to why he has joined the project he stated that the first screen personas that he has ever loved were the creations of the Henson. These included the ones on ‘Sesame Street’ and then on ‘Fraggle Rock’.
He further said that the characters of Jim Henson make him laugh and sing and they are also wise. The actor also stated that all the works of Jim Henson has been his favorite whether it is Yoda or the Fraggles.
He revealed that Jim Henson’s characters have been a part of his life throughout whether it was his adulthood or as a young frisky man. He explained that he thinks working with Lisa Henson makes him confident and he is confident that the both of them can do something that would be loved by Jim. Gordon-Levitt also stated that he was pretty happy to be working with the New Regency on this project.
Apart from this Gordon-Levitt fans will also be able to see the actor as Edward Snowden in Oliver Stone’s upcoming movie ‘Snowden’. The movie is said to release in the US on Christmas. The actor will also be seen as the host of ‘Hit Record on TV with Joseph Gordon-Levitt’ which has its second season premiere on June 12.
Moreover the actor also has a busy schedule as he will also be seen in ‘The Walk’ a movie by Robert Zemeckis. Gordon-Levitt will be cast as Philippe Petit alongside Seth Rogen, Lizzy Caplan, Jillian Bell and Anthony Mackie. The actor is represented by WME and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris and Klein.
