iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone 6C rumored for 2015

Apple is reportedly readying three new iPhones for 2015.

Apple left out the iPhone C for an upgrade in 2014. This is reportedly changing in 2015. Digitimes reports that Apple works on the iPhone 6C along the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. All three new iPhones will be released this fall.

The report from the Asian supply chain says that all of the new iPhones for 2015 will come with LTPS panels and supply for the iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone 6C will come from Japan Display, Sharp and LG Display while that for the iPhone 6S will come from Japan Display and LG.

All three new iPhones are supposed to be have Corning Gorilla Glass. The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus would run on the new A9 CPU and the iPhoen 6C will run on the current A8 CPU. Not surprisingly all new iPhones support NFC and fingerprint scanning technologies for Apple Pay.

While reports from Digitimes are not always accurate, this one has only expected information that can be easily implied by Apple’s product release history. It is very likely that Apple will not introduce a completely new iPhone in 2015. The design will be based on the iPhone 6 and Apple will only increase performance and improve minor aspects. I am personally hoping that Apple will fix the exterior design flaws with the iPhone 6S.

The iPhone 5C needs an upgrade to continue to compete with other mid-market smartphones. It is likely that Apple holds on to the colorful iPhone line going forward. If indeed Apple will keep the 4-inch screen size on the iPhone 6C remains to be seen. The trend definitely goes towards larger screens. The iPhone 6C is could also feature a 4.7-inch screen as the iPhone 6.

The stripes on the backside around the corners and the protruding camera lens are not acceptable for design purists. I rather accept a thicker iPhone than have something stick out. This is why I still own an iPhone 5, which is basically looks like the black monolith from “A Space Odyssey.”
