Due to the larger size of the phone, the sensor is going to cost 2.5 times more than the sensor on the watch
Though the success of the Apple Watch has been quite a controversial topic debated over recently, there is one thing which makes the watch an important development and it is the Force Touch. This is a new type of touch technology which has the ability to differentiate between various levels of pressure and hence it expands the functional capacity of a touch panel. The reason why all eyes are on the Force Touch is that rumors have been circulating around which suggest that this technology might land on the iPhone 6S Plus. As exciting as that sounds, this is going to cost more than twice as much as the Watch’s sensor.
Reports from UDN have quoted a couple of industry insiders who are familiar with TPK’s operations saying that the manufacturer is expecting a swell in profits this year as they supply Apple with Force Touch sensors which are designed for the iPhone 6S Plus. However, there is quite a considerable difference between the screen sizes of the two devices and this explains why the sensor on the iPhone 6S Plus is going to so expensive. Getting this sensor on the iPhone is going to cost $13-14 more than the one featured on the watch.
Since the iPhone 6S Plus has been mentioned exclusively here, we have every reason to believe that the Force Touch technology might not be featured on the normal 6S version. This makes perfect sense as even the current scenario reveals how some interesting technologies are only flaunted by the 6 Plus version and not the iPhone 6.
