Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig have announced that they are cancelling their Lifetime movie. This cancellation is due to the press leak on the internet.
Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig stated that now they are cancelling plans for their Secret Lifetime movie after news of the project being leaked online on Wednesday night.
Update June 3: Will Ferrell pranked us all. The movie A Deadly Adoption will air on Lifetime on June 20.
Ferrell made a statement after this leaked press release and stated to EW that both of them are very disappointed that their planned top secret project was made public.
He said this is why he and Kristen have come to this conclusion that for the best interest of everyone the project be forgone entirely. He then thanked all those that were ready to help them in this project.
The movie if released would have been a two hour long one titled ‘A Deadly Adoption’ and was going to be released this summer. The idea behind the project was to release a quasi-parody of the soapy thrillers Lifetime is so famous for.
The movie would have been about a husband and a wife who would take in and care for a woman in the final months of her pregnancy with the aim of adopting the baby and then the situation go out of control.
This project was executive produced by Ferrell and Adam McKay. The script was penned by co-creator Andrew Steele who had also co-created ‘The Spoils of Babylon’ which also starred Ferrell and Wiig.
Now the question is whether Lifetime is ready to give up on a project on which it has spent millions of dollars just because the actors have taken a particular stance.
Some sources state that the movie will move ahead and Ferrell and Wiig have no control over it. So it seems unlikely that the project would go away as Lifetime could still air the film even without the stars approval because most probably the cable network would own the rights.
