Just days after becoming the world’s oldest person, American Gertrude Weaver has died.
Less than a week ago, the world’s oldest person Misao Okawa, from Japan, died at the age of 117. She handed over the title to 116 year old American Gertrude Weaver. Now she has died on Monday in Arkansas.
The World’s oldest Person title remains though in America. Jeralean Talley is with the age of 115 years now the oldest person in the world. She was born on /4/23, 1899. She will soon celebrate her 116 birthday. She is one of a fast shrinking group of so called Supercentenarian – people who passed their 110th birthday.
Below is a ABC report about Jeralean Talley last year’s birthday.
Mrs. Talley appears in the video as still rather active and fit. Looks like she will be holding the title of World’s Oldest Person for a long time.
The number of people born before 1900 will gone quite soon. Jeralean Talley was born in /4/of 1899, so there are only 7 month left. A look into Wikipedia reveals that there are surprisingly only three people left including Talley in the world with a 18 in front of their birth year. American Susannah Mushatt Jones was born on July 6, 1899 and Italian Emma Morano-Martinuzzi was born on November 29, 1899.
