The 38mm 18-Karat Rose Gold Case with White Sport Band from the Apple Watch Edition line is delayed until July. Will Apple have in-store inventory only for this?
The Apple Watch went on sale today at 12:01am PDT with immediate shipping delays on most models, especially the lower cost watches. As reported earlier the 42mm Apple Watch Sport models are now marked with a June shipping date.
The low-end Apple Watches are not the only only ones hit with delays. The $10,000 Apple Watch Edition (38mm18-Karat Rose Gold Case with White Sport Band) is delayed until July. Update: 2 hours after the begin of pre-order almost all Apple Watch Edition models have a July shipping date.
Did Apple actually manufacture Apple Watch Edition models in advance beyond Pharrell’s and Apple Store display units? It appears Apple is making these high-end Apple Watches made to order.
The Apple Watch Edition models are available in select Apple Stores. In New York the Fifth Avenue, SoHo and Upper West Side Apple Stores carries them. Apple has added Watch Edition as option in the Apple Store Finder. To order an Apple Watch Edition in stores seems to be the best option to get one close to April 24. We don’t recommend to spend that money on a first generation Apple product.
Apple Watch introduces a new design and iOS-based user interface created specifically for a smaller device. Apple Watch features the Digital Crown, a new way to scroll, zoom and navigate fluidly, without obstructing the display. The Digital Crown also serves as the Home button and a quick way to access Siri. The Retina display on Apple Watch features Force Touch, a technology that senses the difference between a tap and a press, providing a new way to access controls within Apple Watch apps.
The Apple Watch introduces the Taptic Engine and a built-in speaker that together discreetly enable an entirely new vocabulary of alerts and notifications you can both hear and feel. Apple custom-designed its own S1 SiP (System in Package) to miniaturize an entire computer architecture onto a single chip. Apple Watch also features Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 4.0 to pair seamlessly with your iPhone. Besides the smart watch features the Apple Watch keeps time to within 50 milliseconds of UTC, the universal time standard when synching regularly with the iPhone.
The Apple Watch starts at $349 for the small case (38mm) Sport Edition. The Apple Watch Pre-order started on April 10 at 12:01am PDT in 9 countries (Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the UK and the US) and the Apple Watch ships on April 24.
