Ryan Gosling to star opposite Harrison Ford in Blade Runner sequel.
Ryan Gosling will reportedly star in the sequel to the classic film ‘Blade Runner. The sequel will be directed by Denis Villeneuve who recently directed the acclaimed film Prisoner’s helmer.
The director of the original film Ridley Scott will be on board the sequel project as an executive producer. The original ‘Blade Runner’ was based on the classical novel by Philip K. Dick and Harrison Ford played the protagonist Rick Deckard in the film as a hunter.
The original ‘Blade Runner’ was revered at the time of its release and is considered a classic; therefore there is always risk the sequel /4/not measure up to the original 1982 film.
However the addition of Ryan Gosling along with the original cast member Harrison Ford seems like the right step, according to Deadline. Goslings involvement /4/be the edge needed to bring the story of the ‘Blade Runner’ to the 21st century viewers.
Hampton Fancher wrote the original screenplay of the 1982 film and he is again on board for the sequel along with Michael Green. The duo will be writing the screenplay of the sequel based on an idea by Fancher and Ridley Scott.
The sequel will account the story several decades after the end of the original ‘Blade Runner’ with the character of Harrison Ford having survived all the years. Details upon Goslings character have not been revealed yet and the shooting is to begin in the summer of 2016. The novel /4/be loosely based on the 1968 novel by Philip K. Dick entitled ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’
Ryan Gosling has previously only been involved in small projects and indie flicks but the actor has major critic backing and has probably decided to venture into the arena of blockbusters.
