Russell Crowe directed 3 times Academy Award winning film ‘The Water Diviner’ about to open at the American box office!
The film ‘The Water Diviner’ directed by Russell Crowe and made in Australia is about to open in American theatre. The bona fide actor Crowe made his directorial debut in the film and hopes the film is met with the same success it garnered in Australia.
The film ‘The Water Divider’ has already won three Academy Awards and was a success at the Australian box office. The film is about a man dealing with the losses resultant from World War I as he searches for his sons after the battle of Gallipoli.
The main role of the father is also played by Crowe as he continues his search for his boys. According to Crowe helming a film is a very intimate process and especially for the first time and hopes the film gains the same kind of success in America it gained in Australia.
The cast and crew of the film have also expressed their hope the Australian made period drama will maintain its winning streak especially on the American front.
‘The Water Diviner’ was the highest grossing home-grown film of 2014 and has so far had box office revenue of $12 million. However the budget of the film is $22.5 million, no wonder Crowe seems anxious for success.
Crowe revealed the success of the film is important to him as the film is the result of three years of his life and it’s all on the line.
Crowe explained if the film does earn good economic revenue the investors will be recompensed for their aid and he can continue to make more films as he likes the artistic control which comes with directing. Warner Bros will be distributing the film in the US with a release date of the 24th of April.
