Target’s website had the Lilly Pulitzer collection on it and it went down due to heavy demand.
Target’s website and their shopping app went down on Sunday. Online buyers went crazy over the 250 piece Lilly Pulitzer clothing line sale. The sale was also dubbed as Palm Beach Perfect. Target had to go offline for about 20 minutes because their website was crashed due to heavy number of users.
The customers started browsing the website to look for colorful fabrics and designs even before their 8am opening. Although we can say that the website was down and it is really bad, but at the same time we can say that there were many sales.
Target rep Joshua Thomas told WSJ that when the traffic got heavier, they made their website inaccessible. He said that his company realizes that there is an extreme amount of excitement around this collaboration and his company also apologizes to any disappointed guests.
When their website stopped, their shopping application also stopped. There were a lot of customers that waiting outside of Target for the store to open on Sunday morning. Target were initially reporting to launch the Lilly Pulitzer collection sale at 3am.

A Target rep claimed that all of the collection was nearly sold in just three hours. Some disappointed folks took to twitter to bash Target and said that Target shouldn’t be promoting something if the consumers wouldn’t be able to get their hands on it.
Whereas Target employees weren’t expecting the people to go so ferociously after the Lilly Pulitzer collection. Target claim that they never intended for a collaboration to be in store for one day. They anticipated that they would be in their stores for a couple of weeks.
Target representative claimed that you never know what is going to happen until you put it in front of the consumer. A Target rep said that there was extreme interest and demand and it went on par with Black Friday.
