Windows 10 Set for a Summer Release

Windows 10 set for a Summer release

Microsoft hasn’t officially announced any date, but AMD seems to know what we want to know.

So, we know that Windows 10 is coming this year, but our thoughts have been left hanging in mid-air because no specific launch date has been revealed. Saying that the next version of Windows would come in Summer this year is far from being specific. However, AMD CEO Lisa Su has taken the liberty to drop something more explicit, and, if whatever she has said holds even a spec of truth, then we might see the Windows 8 successor in just about three months’ time.

“What we also are factoring in is, you know, with the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching sort of the impact of that on the back-to-school season and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory build-up,” Su said during an earnings call last week.

We would naturally feel skeptical about this statement because, firstly, Microsoft hasn’t announced any official launch date and, secondly, these might all be just speculations or a rough timeline on the launch, but nothing that we can be confident about. At the same time, we are also of the view that this appears to be the most probable date for the launch of Windows 10. Back to school season is going to bring in the attraction, which Microsoft would initially have been hoping for after setting this time frame.

Also, the new version couldn’t be so far away because we are already seeing various features of the OS popping in, such as the new take on Maps and the Spartan browser. Alongside this, Windows 10 is also making its way to mobile.
