The five time champions of “Dancing with the Stars” /4/sit out rest of the season
Questions were swirling about the condition of the pro dancer and choreographer Derek Hough, who got injured during the Monday night’s rehearsal of Dancing with the Stars. It is confirmed now that he has sustained some serious injuries in that incident.
“Derek Hough suffered injuries to his right foot and left ankle. He has been diagnosed with a broken toe on his right foot and sprains to his left ankle on both the inside and outside aspects and a bone bruise on the same ankle.” Derek Hough rep told Fox News. “Derek will remain in Los Angeles this week to rehab his injures. His understudy will be filling in for him for New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall in New York” his rep said.
This statement clearly indicates that Derek will not be able to appear “New York Spring Spectacular” which will run through /4/7. It has already been announced that Taylor Frey will step into the role of the Jack, which had to be played by Derek on Wednesday’s show of New York Spring Spectacular. The 29 years old Derek is likely to miss subsequent shows as well. It is also unclear whether Derek Hough will be able to join the remaining season of Dancing with the Stars.
“While it remains unclear at the time if Derek will be able to perform on the Monday, April 27 episode of Dancing with the Stars, his partner Natasha Liukin will train in Los Angeles this week with pro dancer Sasha Farrber to prepare for the live show.” Derek’s rep added.
If Derek could not recover, Natasha might have been paired with someone else for that episode – such thing never happened in the show before.
Derek hurt himself last Monday at the rehearsal for the 10th anniversary of the Dancing with the Stars. Sources revealed that Derek suffered an injury when his foot smashed into a piece of equipment. While icing the foot injury, he fall down some stairs and hurt his ankle as well. The dancer was rushed to the hospital where it has been found that his injuries are more than minor and they will take time to heal properly.
