Avengers Stars apologize for slut-shaming Black Widow

Avengers’ stars Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner apologize for their slut-shaming comments on The Black Widow!

Representatives of both Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner have issued a joint statement to the EW in which they apologise for their comments. Both the stars have expressed their regret and apologised to the fans who took offence when they called the Black Widow a ‘slut’. 

In the statement Chris Evans stated yesterday when they were asked about the relationship development between the Black Widow and The Hulk, himself along with Renner answered in a very juvenile and offensive manner. Chris admitted he regrets it sincerely apologises to the fans who were rightfully angered due to the comment.

Renner on the other hand stated he is sorry his tasteless comment on a fictional character angered anyone and his comment was meant to be a joke and not to be taken seriously in any way. Renner elaborated he was simply poking fun in a tiresome and long press tour. 

The whole debacle occurred when during an interview with Digital Spy Evans and Renner were asked about how they feel about the surprise couple of the Black Widow and the Hulk? Since fans were keen on watching the Black Widow with their characters Captain American or Hawkeye?

A majority of the Avengers fans had been shipping for a romance development between the Black Widow with Hawkeye or Captain America. 

Renner trying to be sarcastic bluntly called the Black Widow a ‘slut’ to which Evans started laughing uproariously and then chimed ‘a complete whore’. Renner further joked the Black Widow has a prosthetic leg anyway which earned more ire from the fans.

Many fans took to the social media to express their displeasure at the slut-shaming comments, while other simply stated the comments were meant as a joke.
