- Cablevision Will Offer Hulu To Their Optimum Customers
Cablevision has signed an agreement with Hulu and according to this offer, Cablevision optimum customers will get Hulu streaming services.
So those users who have signed up to become Cablevision’s optimum customers, they have some good news because they will now be getting services from Hulu. This deal will see Cablevision become the first cable or satellite provider to resell Hulu’s catalog of on demand content.
Kristin Dolan who is the chief operating officer at Cablevision said that the partnership with Hulu reflects Cablevision’s desire to meet customers where they are. Kristin also said that there is a new generation of consumers who access video through the internet.
Cablevision now knows that a lot of people these days watch TV shows on the internet and stay most of the day on their laptops or PCs. Kristin believes that Cablevision can offer them with great experience if they are willing to watch shows via internet.
Hulu are currently offering their premium streaming service called the Hulu Plus for $7.99 per month. Cablevision has still not decided what it will charge for the service. It will decide that in the near future. Hulu were very happy with this new deal and they believe this new deal will help them reach a wider audience.
Tim Connolly who is the senior VP of distribution for Hulu said that at Hulu they believe users should have the ability to consume their favorite content, when, where and how they want.
He said that even with the rapid growth in streaming there is a huge audience that consumes television through their cable provider. Tim believes that Hulu wants to be there for their consumers.
Hulu plus offers a ton of shows including Empire, South park, CSI and Nashville. Subscribers will also be allowed to stream full back seasons of programming from networks that include Adult Swim, FOX, FX, Cartoon Network, ABC, NBC and TNT.
The deal is coming after Cablevision launched several products and this is directly aimed at cord cutters. This is because there are internet packages out there that will also offer a free digital tuner.
