- The U2 Lead Vocalist Had A Cycling Accident And Now He Can’t Play The Guitar
Bono had a cycling accident and he still cannot play the guitar as his left hand and arm are not properly healed.
Just last November, Bono was cycling in Central Park in New York. Over there he had a very bad cycling accident. He fractured his eye socket, shoulder, left hand and his elbow. The vocalist for the band U2 went under surgery for more than 5 hours.
U2 was also forced to cancel its weeklong residency at The Tonight Show. Now five months since the accident has passed, the band is looking to the future. They are now planning to go on tour. The name of their tour is Innocence + Experience Tour.
Bono’s doctor believes that the singer will not be able to regain all of the feeling in his left hand for another 13 months. Bono used to think that he was unbreakable. He said that he used to think that his head was harder than any surface it came in contact with.
He also said that now he doesn’t think that is the case. Bono said that he didn’t come off a high speed Harley Davidson. Bono feels embarrassed as he said that he came off a push bike and smashed himself to bits.
He believes that there isn’t any glory in this. Bono recently gave us an update on how things are going. He said that most of the damage in concentrated in his left hand. Bono can’t curl his fourth finger and his pinky. He said that he feels like he has someone else’s hand.
He told NYTimes that the doctors told him the nerves heal about a millimeter a week so in around 13 months he should know it he will be getting his hand back. His shoulder and eye socked are much better now. He said that his forearm is still numb and his elbow is all titanium at the moment. Bono can still sing and hold a mic but the vocalist isn’t able to hold his guitar.
