Dell Wireless Dock Launches

We all love docking stations. They make our lives easier by connecting multiple devices at home or in the office. The only downside to using docking stations is that they can look chaotic because of the tangled cables and wires. Dell wants to revolutionize the docking station by creating a wireless dock that would connect compatible devices without the fuss.

Dell’s new wireless dock is a new solution for laptops, ultrabooks, and convertibles. However, it’s important to note that the wireless dock only works with compatible devices. Specifically, Dell has partnered with Intel to support devices running the latter’s 5th generation Intel Core vPro processor with enabled Intel Tri-Band Wireless-AC 17256.

This means that the wireless dock isn’t for everybody. Only devices supporting Intel’s vPro processors and Tri-Band Wireless-AC 17256 can enjoy the benefits of wireless charging and the like. It also means that Dell’s Latitude 5000 and 7000 models are ready to use the wireless dock as these laptops are fully compatible.

The new wireless dock, which can power up to two external displays, keyboard, mouse, audio, and other peripherals, provides seamless high-speed wireless docking via Intel’s WiGig technology. It has two USB ports in the front and three USB ports in the back. The dock also supports VGA, HDMI, and mDP for up to two external displays. Dell is selling the wireless dock for $269.99 and you can order one from Dell’s website
