RiRi’s massive yellow Met Gala robe took two years to make!
Rihanna’s massive yellow robe took all the attention on Monday night at the Met Gala 2015. The robe was the topic of discussion on every social media platform and generated the most memes. The yellow robe was undeniably massive and it might not be a surprise to know it took a long time to make the robe but it was longer than most of us thought.
On the red carpet of the Met Gala RiRi gave a short interview to Vogue’s André Leon Talley and revealed her robe took years to make. Yes literally two years to make and it was all stitched together by the designer Guo Pei who worked on it alone all by herself.
Rihanna revealed Guo Pei is a Chinese designer and she handmade the robe specially. According to Rihanna the process of coming up with a robe was literally a miracle as she saw a beautiful beast on the internet when she was searching through Chinese couture and ultimately found Guo Pei.
The Chinese handmade couture piece was so heavy at least 4 handlers were necessary to carry it with Rihanna. The massive yellow robe was accessorized with a head band by Rihanna.
Although fashion critics found the robe to be very pleasing the robe provided the normal people a chance to show their funny and creative side. The robe was compared to numerous food items on the internet when users took it upon themselves to alter it with Photoshop to resemble a pizza crust and omelette.
The memes were numerous and hilarious, and even Rihanna joined the game when she herself posted a picture of her robe as a cracked egg on her Instagram. RiRi captioned the pic with the word ‘Carrying’ and showed everyone her delight at the memes.
