The show producer is in talks with Hulu to pick up additional seasons
Fox network is pulling the plugs of romantic comedy show “Mindy Project” after three seasons and there are no talks for pushing it through with a fourth season on Fox again. Fox has recently ordered the renewal of many sitcoms on its network such as “New Girl”, “The Last Man on Earth” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” but “Mindy Project” which was not doing too well in rating games, could not get a place in that list. The show is expected to not pick up for any additional season just like “Mulaney”, “Red Band Society” and “Gracepoint”, also facing a dip in popularity and ratings.
“Mindy Project” had a cult following which was quite disappointed and angry as well the way the third season of the show wrapped up abruptly in the March and many of them believed that show deserves a fourth season and more dimensions can be explored in the next season.
However there is good news for all the fans of “Mindy Project”. Universal Television, the producer of the show is seriously negotiating online streaming giant “Hulu” for picking up the fourth season and possibly many more if it continues to grab the interest of the viewers, Entertainment Weekly reports. Hulu has declined any comment on the pickup of “Mindy Project” especially not before when the Fox has not announced anything officially regarding the show.
The “Mindy Project” is a story of Mindy Lahiri, an OB/GYNE who is trying to maintain a balance between her professional and personal life while doing her medical practice in New York in the midst of quirky co-workers. The character of Mindy is created and played by Mindy Kaling, inspired by the life of her own mother who was an obstetrician/gynecologist.
The first season of the show started on September 25, 2012 while the finale of the third season aired on March 24, 2015, after completing 21 episodes.
