An upcoming Kickstarter project seeks funding for a portable Bluetooth speaker with a pyro board on top. The video below shows the Sound Torch in action.
The Sound Torch will be an affordable and portable Bluetooth speaker that is literally on fire. The top of the speaker has gas flames that move in sync to the music. The Sound Torch team took the Pyro Board concept, made it smaller and cheaper and seeks crowdfunding to actually produce these dramatic speakers. The idea of flames moving to music is though not new at all.
The flame tube was invented by German physicist Heinrich Rubens in 1905. The so called Rubens tube demonstrates the relationship between sound waves and sound pressure. Cool physics teachers show Rubens tubes in action in their classes. Artist Yuri Suzuki has created a flame equalizer with 6 Rubens tubes.
At the sound torch site interested people can get their name on the waiting list here. There will only be 100 units made in the first run. The Kickstarter project for Sound Torch is supposed to launch soon.
The Sound Torch team based in Denmark and consists of Markus Buch, Matt Ward and Christian Fisker.
